Story
On Sunday, May 25th, my sweet baby boy Junjo Clawes was rushed to the kitty ICU, where he spent 2.5 days being monitored on oxygen 🙁
Him and his sister have been extremely lucky to receive affordable care from HSNY all these years, but due to the holiday weekend there were no emergency vets onsite and he needed to be taken in an ambivet to AMC (where he still received the most amazing care and I highly recommend them if you are in an emergency situation). The important part is that HE IS HOME and, while we are not out of the woods yet, he seems to be responding well to the steroid treatment and we will follow up to see what the next step is after a week. The unfortunate part is that we have racked up a 7,000 bill so far, and it’s likely to go up if we need to continue with testing. Hopefully that’s not the case and we remain cautiously optimistic ❤️
We are still unsure of the exact diagnosis, but what we know so far is that he had a buildup of air in his chest, as well as under his skin, and his x-rays showed a bronchial pattern, both possibly indicative of some sort of emphysema/respiratory disease. I don’t want to put him through crazy invasive testing and traumatize him further, so we are continuing with the supportive care and taking it day by day – though he seems to be back to his old self (trying to steal my food). Fingers crossed!
Thank you to EVERYONE who has reached out and checked in on the lil guy – we love and appreciate you ❤️
Will continue to keep you all posted!
